Auto-Ordnance Offers Ornate 250th Army Anniversary Tommy Guns
Greeley, Pennsylvania-based Auto-Ordnance is offering slick commemorative Thompson rifles to mark the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary this year. Partnering with artisans at Altered Arsenal for the project, Auto-Ordnance dubbed the new guns "A Salute to Service" and even paired the classic Tommy gun with an equally classic tribute 1911.
The Army tribute Thompsons are actually joining a series of 250th commemorative 1911s, one for the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps each. Chambered for the classically American .45 ACP, the engraved Thompsons follow the simplified M1-pattern design favored by U.S. troops, while also hosting a unique two-tone Cerakote finish.
The upper receiver is OD green and supported by a tan lower. Controls wear a contrasting black oxide that ties it all together.
The wood furniture is made from American walnut and extensively decorated. Adornments include engravings that document the evolution of the American soldier from the Revolutionary War into modern times. The “ARMY” name is also CNC engraved on the steel receiver and separately Cerakoted in black on the upper and lower for extra visual contrast, tying the two halves of the gun together. In an extra clever tip of the hat to the service, the top of the receiver is cut to mirror the layout of the Army dress uniform, complete with Cerakote FX Gold buttons and waist buckle. While not necessarily meant for extended range trips or the grit of enemy trenches, these Thompsons are more than fit to fight and come complete with one 30-round stick magazine.
MSRP is set at $2,649, keeping in mind that each of these custom Tommy guns includes time-consuming precision work and handcrafting, which means no two commemorative Thompsons are exactly alike.
