Kimber kicked off SHOT Show week with the launch of a new high-capacity double-stack 1911 platform designed to provide modern features at a more accessible price point than similar designs like the company’s popular 2K11 line.

Made in the USA at Kimber’s Troy, Alabama factory, the 1911 DS Warrior is Kimber’s answer to shooters who “wanted a true Kimber 1911 experience in a high-capacity, value-driven package.”

According to Pedi Gega, Kimber’s director of product development, assembly, and finishing: “This is an entirely new platform that keeps our traditional 1911 DNA – internal extractor, bushing barrel, and crisp trigger – while delivering the magazine capacity and optic-ready features today’s shooters expect. It’s built here in the United States for those who prefer a domestic, quality-made option over imported, budget high capacity 1911-style pistols.”

Available in four calibers at launch – 9mm, .45 ACP, 10mm, and .38 Super – the 1911 DS Warrior models are all standard full-size pistols with 5-inch barrels, except for the 10mm model, which is also offered in a 6-inch long-slide option. All models are optics-ready for RMR-pattern mounts and feature a TAG cover plate with a fixed rear sight. The pistols use Kimber’s internal 1911-style extractor, bushing system barrel, mil-spec guide rod, and match-grade trigger.

Each model comes with one flush-fit mag and one extended mag, with capacities as follows:

  • 9mm/38 Super: 17+1 flush-fit/20+1 extended
  • .45 ACP: 11+1/13+1
  • 10mm: 15+1/18+1

MSRP on the new 1911 DS Warriors starts at $1,099 and tops out at $1,350 for the 6-inch 10mm model, keeping these on the less pricey side of the double-stack 1911 market.
