New: Springfield Armory XD Optics Ready Mod 4 9mm Pistol
The latest generation of the Springfield Armory XD is optics-ready, has improved ergos, and a great price.
Made by HS Produkt, which originally introduced the pistol as the HS2000 a quarter century ago, the XD series has been the original "Croatian Sensation" in the U.S. market, and the Mod 4 is the latest incremental update to that now-classic striker-fired, polymer-framed platform. Offered at first only in a compact (G19) size with a 4-inch barrel, the Mod 4s are factory-milled, optics-ready, with plates available for RMR, DeltaPoint Pro, and Docter footprints. The gun ships with steel sights installed as well, including a red fiber optic front sight and a white dot rear.
Other updates include a redesigned slide with better ergonomics, including deeper slide serrations as well as an improved grip texture. Best yet, the MSRP is $399 (optic not included), which is probably going to translate to more like a $369 counter price at dealers.
You've got all your standard XD features, such as the forged steel Melonite-coated slide and barrel, passive grip safety, tactile loaded chamber indicator, and striker-status indicator. (Photos: Springfield Armory)
Note the "Grip Zone" is a thing of the past, with the Mod 4 going for a more understated banner.
The overall length is 7.3 inches with a 4-inch barrel, while the width is 1.2 inches and the height is 5.5 inches. Weight, unloaded, is 27 ounces-- so basically G19 sized.
The XD Mod.4 ships with a 16-round stainless steel magazine, with a 10-round variant available in restricted states (get involved in your local politics, folks). If you just skipped to the bottom to see the price, it's $399 asking, likely cheaper at the point of purchase.
