Illinois-based Springfield Armory now has a triad of modern 1911s sporting the highly popular Aimpoint COA red dots. The triplets include the double-stack 18+1 DS Prodigy in 9mm and the single-stack 8+1 TRP and Operator 1911s in .45 ACP.

The guns sport factory-milled Aimpoint A-CUT interfaces topped with Aimpoint’s closed-emitter COA red dot, which has taken the gun world by storm lately. The COA’s footprint uses a full-length dovetail with a front hook and rear wedge, which lock the optic in place and transfer lateral forces into the dovetail.

This protects the mounting screws and interfaces while providing a stable, ultra-low optics profile for those wishing to carry the guns concealed or co-witness iron sights.

As for the COA optic itself, these 3.5-MOA red dots offer a battery life that can run more than five years with a single CR2032. It has four night-vision settings, eight daylight options, and is water-rated to 25 meters. Total weight is 1.7 ounces, with a large 15x15mm window.

Springfield’s double-stack 1911 DS Prodigy COA comes with an 18+1 capacity for 9mm and two magazines, with an MSRP of $1,955. The 1911 TRP COA in .45 ACP features a single-stack 8+1 capacity and comes with two mags with an MSRP of $2,424, while the 1911 Operator COA is set at $1,623 with the same chambering and capacity.
