  4. Nub Sub: KelTec Debuts New SUB-SDP 9mm Folding Pistol PDW

Florida-based KelTec continues its established trope of delivering strange yet intriguing new guns to the market, introducing the SUB-SDP over the weekend.   

The pistol, dubbed the "Nub Sub" in the company's own marketing materials, is based on the KelTec SUB2000 folding carbine, made into a pistol format and sporting a stabilizing brace instead of a stock on a shorter extension tube and a 6-inch barrel.

Set up to take Glock-pattern 9mm double stacks (i.e., G17, G19, G45), the base model ships with a Magpul 15-round magazine. Weight is 3.57 pounds, while the overall length goes from 10 inches with the pistol folded to 17.7 inches when extended.

The standard model SUB-SDP includes a threaded barrel with a standard format (1/2x28TPI) pitch.

Folded, it is 10 inches long and still has space for optics and accessories via a short top Picatinny rail and M-LOK slots. 


The MSRP on the standard KelTec SUB-SDP pistol is $599. 


The company has an upgraded variant of the Nub Sub, dubbed the SUB-SDP Defender, which includes a Vortex Crossfire optic, two 27-round Magpul PMAG magazines, a compensator, and a front M-LOK magazine holder. MSRP is $799.

While at first the Nub Sub seems funny, compare it to similar products such as the Flux Raider, which costs two to three times more, and the laughing slows. 

It may not stop, but it at least slows.
