On this week’s episode of Two Guys One Gun, the guys discuss the Czech-made CZ 75. This 9mm handgun is one of the most popular designs in the world, inspiring countless clones.

Chris Eger recently returned from a trip to Europe, including a factory tour at the CZ plant in the Czech Republic. There, he got the rare chance to handle the first CZ 75 with the serial number 00001. The historic CZ factory is loaded with history that dates back over 100 years.

There is something to be said about the Czech fighting spirit, a characteristic that is represented in the firearms that leave the CZ factory. With an attitude of fierce independence, dating back to their time in the Warsaw Pact during the Cold War, the CZ 75 was a handgun that bridged a gap between the two sides of the war. Chambered in a standard NATO cartridge yet produced behind the Iron Curtain, the CZ 75 is truly a phenomenon of its time.

The Czechs have always been known for excellent firearm designs, even rejecting standard Soviet firearms in favor of Czech designs during their time in the Warsaw Pact. That deep and rich firearm legacy along with a strong gun culture is what drove the success of the CZ 75. Outside of the 1911, the CZ 75 might just be the most copied handgun on the planet. With companies like IWI, Tanfoglio, and even Laugo Arms drawing model inspiration from the iconic Czech pistol.

From military contracts, to concealed carry, to reigning at the top charts in sport shooting, the CZ 75 is one of the most successful handguns to go into production.

So, sit back, relax, and Czech out this incredible handgun.
