First introduced in the 1950s and modeled after the original M1911 the Colt Gold Cup is a competition class semi-automatic handgun chambered in 9mm and 45 ACP. Features include an adjustable wide trigger a National Match barrel and a lowered and flared ejection port as well as target post front and fully adjustable Bomar rear sights. The Gold Cup also employs a round top slide and wrap around rubber stocks.

The Colt Gold Cup is known as the finest shooting semi-automatic in the world and is the standard for competitive guns. The first Colt Gold Cup pistol was introduced in the late 1950s to give competitive shooters a gun to take directly from the dealers showcase to the firing line. Colt Gold Cup pistols have been used to compete in local club matches through the National Matches at Camp Perry.
