2017: Henry gets into scatterguns and then some

SHOT Show isn’t until January, but that isn’t stopping Henry Repeating from chumming the waters with their new 2017 offerings.

Henry's New for 2017 Models

Henry is entering the shotgun market with the latest reincarnation of the classic break-top scattergun , the Henry Single Shot Shotgun.

Available in a steel or hardened brass framed, the Single Shot Shotgun comes in the popular 12 and 20 gauge as well as .410 bore. Sized for adults, these shotguns wear a 28-inch barrel in 12 gauge and 26-inch barrels for the latter chamberings. They come with removable choke tubes. The .410 comes with a full choke while the bigger gauges come with a looser, modified choke.

Been waiting for a new lever action shotgun? Henry is up to boot with their Lever Action Shotgun. Currently chambered for 2.5” .410 bore shells, the Lever Action Shotgun is available in a long and a carbine variant.

The former comes with a full choke 24-inch barrel and a simple bead front sight. The handier “carbine” comes with a 20-inch barrel with both a front sight and a fore sight. However, there is no choke for maximum versatility.

Both models hold five rounds in the tubular magazine.

Built on similar lines as the Single Shot Shotgun, Henry’s new Single Shot Rifle. Also available in a steel or hardened brass frame, the Single Shot rifle comes with iron sights and is drilled/tapped for the use of a scope. The steel model is available in the flat shooting 223 Remington, 243 Winchester, and 308 Winchester rounds, as well as the ever popular 44 Magnum and 45-70 Government cartridges.

The brass models are available in 44 Magnum and 45-70 only.

Henry is unveiling a new cartridge for their popular lever action Big Boy line—the 327 Federal Magnum. Jumping out to any revolver aficionado, the rifle will hold ten rounds and the carbine will hold seven—more if you use 32 H&R Magnum or the shorter 32 S&W Long round.

On the rimfire 22 side, Henry is unveiling a long-barreled version of the Octagon Frontier rifle. Wearing a 24-inch octagonal barrel, this new lever gun chambered in 22 LR and 22 Magnum will surely get the most velocity out of those rimfire rounds and lend a bit of extra sight radius for better accuracy.

Don’t forget to overlook Henry’s new tribute Golden Boy rifles—one model dedicated to the Fraternal Order of Eagles and another as a tribute to the Second Amendment itself.

Want an all-weather Big Boy? You get that too. Previously available for the 30-30 and 45-70 models, Henry has added chrome-plating and protective wood coats to their Big Boy models in 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum, and 45 Colt.

The namesake rifle of Henry Repeating, the Henry Original, is also getting a makeover. A convenient, “Rare Carbine” version that is some 4-inches shorter—and therefore lighter—than the Original. Also, the Henry Original line is now chambered in the easy to find, 45 Colt cartridges.
