Sig Sauer announced a new addition to its Legion series, introducing the P220 Legion Carry SAO chambered in .45 Auto.

The carry-size P220 Legion Carry SAO brings a 3.9-inch barrel to an overall length measuring 7.1-inches. The pistol weighs in at 30.4-ounces with an overall height of 5.5-inches. The P220 Legion Carry SAO opts for a Legion Gray stainless-steel slide and frame paired with X-RAY3 Day/Night Sights. Featuring a single-action only flat trigger, the handgun adopts an ambidextrous manual safety.

Like its Legion siblings, this model offers enhancements like a solid steel guide rod, checkering on the front strap as well as under the trigger guard, front cocking serrations, black G-10 checkered grips with the Legion medallion, and the Legion chevron engraved on the slide. The pistol ships with three 8-round magazines.

Sig Sauer says the P220 Legion Carry SAO is a unique entry into the Legion family as it marks the first time a .45 caliber in a carry size has made its way into the elite series.

“The introduction of the P220 Legion Carry SAO is both a unique and exclusive opportunity and brings several firsts to the market for our Legion Series pistols. Most notably this is the first introduction of both a carry size pistol and the availability of a .45 caliber for a Legion Series pistol,” Tom Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Sig Sauer, said in a news release. “Additionally, this is a rare opportunity to either become a member of the exclusive Sig Sauer Legion or expand your collection as a current Legion member, due to the fact that this is a limited run pistol.”

No word yet on pricing, but it's worth noting the P220 Legion SAO full-size retails for around $1,199.
