Max Michel won the Overall Championship title at the USPSA Area Championship, held Sept. 13, marking the first time a Carry Optics Division shooter took home the overall win.

Michel, Team Sig's Captain, competed with a P320 XFive Legion topped with Sig Romeo3Max red dot. It's worth noting the Romeo3Max optic was developed by Michel. His setup was paired with Sig's own branded 147-grain, Match Elite 9mm Competition Ammo.

Michel said COVID-19 restrictions allowed him to focus on shooting this year and the extra practice time paid dividends.

“It has been a unique year for competitive shooting, and due to the COVID restrictions and limited match schedule I was able to really focus on my training and it’s paying off," Michel said in a press release. "This achievement is also a credit to both the quality and accuracy of my Sig equipment that continues to run flawlessly and outperformed all the competitors at the Area 5 Championship, including those in the Open Pistol Division."

Michel said though he boasts multiple national and world titles, this win makes him especially proud.

“Throughout my professional shooting career I have earned several National and World Championships, and set World Speed Shooting and Guinness World Records, but taking the Overall title in an Area Championship against the competition I faced at this match, across all divisions, was both unique and special, and I am proud and honored to have done it on behalf of Team Sig," he explained.

Sig Sauer said its extremely pleased with Michel's win and representation at the competition, and are proud to call him a Team Sig shooter.
