Georgia-based HK USA last week announced a pair of MP5/SP5-style rimfire models are inbound, offering fans of the platform an affordable plinker with the Heckler & Koch name on the side.
The two new blowback action models, made under license by Umarex Sportwaffen of Germany – known for a wide range of air guns, replicas, and "tactical" rimfires – include a carbine that is a dead ringer for the HK MP5SD complete with a faux suppressor and a pistol that is an ode to the SP5. Both use 25-round magazines and have an MSRP of $479, which is about $75 more than the GSG clones but include HK markings.
“If you like the SP5, you’re gonna love the MP5 22. It can be a trainer, a suppressor host, or just the coolest .22 LR fun gun on the range," said Bill Dermody, HK USA’s director of marketing. "And let’s not forget the fact that, as a semi-auto 22, it’s an MP5 that most of us can actually afford to own and shoot."
