Who doesn't love going to the shooting range and running into that old friend who has a new gun they're willing to let you try out? Freedom Days is like that, except your friend is Sig Sauer.

For the cost of a $79.95 daily pass, those who could push, pull, or drag themselves to the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, Arizona, May 6-8 can lay hands on nearly 50 different Sig firearms.

These range from little bitty pistols (P938, P365), the classic P210, the company's sweet new P322 (guess what caliber that's chambered in), the P320 in many of its flavors (XTEN, M17, M18, MAX, Spectre Comp, AXG Carry, XCarry Legion, et al), Sig's CROSS series bolt gun, the MCX, MPX Copperhead PCC, the 716, and, yes, even the MCX Spear – the basis for the Sig Sauer Next Generation Squad Weapon System (NGSW) that was recently selected by the U.S. Army to replace the M4. As a bonus, Mossberg is on hand with a great selection of shotguns.

Sig Sauer's Next Gen Squad Weapons: the MCX Spear/XM5, and the LMG/XM250

The MCX Spear has a lot going on, including twin charging handles, a folding stock, and a 6.8mm hybrid cartridge family

The LMG, meanwhile, comes in pounds lighter than the M249 it is set to replace while bringing a big boost in performance downrange.

The NGSWs drew lots of attention, and the demonstration gave all lots to think about.

But it goes well past the awesome firearms, as a Legion (see what we did there?) of true legends in the gun community are on hand, including Jerry Miculek – one of the greatest competitive shooters of all time – Team Sig's very own Max Michel, precision shooting wizard Daniel Horner,  and Lena Miculek.

Plus there is author Jack Carr, Sgt. Maj. Kyle Lamb, Justin Melnick with his dog Dita from the popular series “SEAL Team,” and others.

Jack Carr Sig Freedom Days
Jack Carr is a #1 bestselling author of "The Terminal List," "True Believer," "Savage Son," "The Devil's Hand," and "In the Blood," as well as a former Navy SEAL and uber gun guy. He is also one heck of a nice guy, and his booth is right next to Guns.com's.

Justin Melnick with his dog Dita were crowd-pleasers.

It was hard to find anyone without a big smile. Who doesn't love Freedom, right?

Breaking stereotypes, these guys drove to the event from North Arizona and are huge into customizing their own Sigs. For reference, the young fella on the right was carrying a P365XL with a Custom Shop FCU.

Sig's Freedom Days this month is at the Ben Avery Center in Arizona.

Sig's Freedom Days is set to run through Sunday, so if you are anywhere near Phoenix and need an injection of awesome, you might want to check it out. If you can't, don't worry, the guys at Sig plan to take the show on the road so look forward to other dates and locations in the very near future.
