Featuring Proof Research carbon fiber-wrapped stainless steel barrels and the company's straight-pull bolt action, Savage Arms has a new and lightweight rifle series.

The Savage Impulse Mountain Hunter line was announced in the lead-up to the National Sporting Good Wholesalers Annual Expo in Kansas City this week. Promising rifles in the 7-pound range due to a mixture of an aluminum receiver, synthetic stocks, and carbon-fiber wrapped barrels, the new Impulse Mountain series of rifles include lots of semi-custom features such as an Accufit stock that is adjustable for length-of-pull and comb height, an ambidextrous multi-position bolt handle, and a user-adjustable AccuTrigger system that can be dialed between 1.5 and 4 pounds.
