Franklin Armory has become known for their Binary Trigger Systems and this year at SHOT Show 2023 wouldn’t disappoint, with an update to the Glock trigger and a brand new Stribog trigger. We got to test both of these out on range day and had a ton of fun with each. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Franklin Armory triggers.

G-S173 Ready for Release

Franklin Armory has brought the power of the binary trigger to the much-loved Glock platform. The prototype at Shot Show 2022 was a big hit, proving to be our most popular news story last year. Well, you no longer have to just dream about it because the Franklin Armory G-S173 is finally entering into production for 2023.

There were several updates that the G-S173 slide went through prior to the production model, starting off with the addition of a fire-mode indicator on the rear plate of the slide. This indicator allows the shooter to visually confirm if the firearm is in binary mode, without having to turn the gun to check the selector. The selector switch has also been minimized and features deeper detents for a more positive and audible click.

As with most modern handguns, the G-S173 slide has been optics cut and features a MOS optic profile on the top of the slide, ready to mount a pistol red dot. Once installed to a Glock 17 frame, the slide gives the option to fire in normal semi-automatic mode or binary mode, which fires a round when both pulling and releasing the trigger from reset.

As with all of Franklin’s modern production binary triggers, there is a built-in safety feature to prevent the second shot in a binary mode that is actuated when the switch is moved off binary.

One of the big upgrades to the G-S173 is the backplate now has a selector indicator so you know which mode you're in without having to adjust anything behind the gun. (Photo: Seth Rodgers/Guns.com)

New Stribog Binary Trigger

The Stribog has become an increasingly popular and affordable semi-auto pistol, rivaling similar designs that are much more expensive. Franklin Armory now has introduced a binary trigger for the Stribog platform, fitting in the SP9A1, the SP9A3, and the G (Glock mag) model. This is an aftermarket feature that will bring a useful and fun function to the Stribog platform.
