In a move no doubt welcomed by those looking to put a suppressor or muzzle device on their Hellcat or XD-M series pistol, Springfield Armory on Tuesday announced factory threaded barrels.

The threaded barrel kits for the standard 3-inch barreled Hellcat include both a 3.8-inch hammer-forged barrel and a self-indexing compensator as well as a thread protector. Drop-in with no gunsmithing needed, it includes standard 1/2x28 pattern muzzle threads.

The cost of the Hellcat threaded barrel kits is $199 through Springfield. Sorry, they won't work on the Hellcat Pro series, which uses a slightly longer slide, barrel, and frame. (All photos: Springfield Armory)

The compensator included with the Hellcat kit is made from 8082 aluminum and is anodized matte black, adding an extra 0.7 ounces of weight to the gun.

Meanwhile, the XD-M 4.5-inch kits do not include a compensator and therefore run about $40 cheaper, hitting the $159 mark. These drop-in threaded barrels will be available in 9mm, 10mm, and .45 ACP and feature a black Melonite coating for rust resistance.
