The Pentagon set a record on Tuesday when it announced the latest security assistance package for Ukraine provided by the Biden Administration, now topping a running total of over $40.7 billion.

The latest package, valued at up to $325 million, marks the 40th White House-authorized drawdown from the Department of Defense's equipment stockpiled for Ukraine since August 2021. Besides additional 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, assorted anti-armor weapon systems, HIMARS rockets, and Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, the latest drawdown also transfers "Over 22 million rounds of small arms ammunition and grenades" to Ukraine.

The accompanying three-page fact sheet provided by the Pentagon that carries a tally of all equipment transferred in the past and slated for transfer in the future, however, remains frozen at "over" 200 million rounds of small arms ammunition, the same blanket figure listed on the 37th drawdown more than six weeks ago. That figure was up from the 150 million rounds listed in a similar tally made public along with the 34th drawdown in March.
