Everyone's favorite AK shooting match and festival is scrubbing its planned 2023 meet due to unforeseen circumstances. 

"The 2023 Red Oktober Kalashnikov Championship is canceled. All match fees are in the process of being refunded," said Brian Nelson, Red Oktober's founder in a post to social media last Friday. "I want to state that upfront so that you all can cancel flights, accommodations, rental cars. If you are a sponsor, we will be reaching out to you shortly."

The problem, Nelson explained, was that the property slated for the event is now up for public auction prior to the match. Alternative venues, such as the nearby Southern Utah Practical Shooters' range, while possible, "the restrictions we would be under to produce the match would not allow Tyler and I to create a Red Oktober worthy of your time, travel and expense."

Nelson says, while they are busy working on a new home for Red Oktober next year, "We are also working on a smaller 'consolation' event this October at a new venue with details to follow."
