A pair of firearm manufacturers typically known for their black rifles and affordable polymer-framed pistols just announced they are working in the 1911 space.

Both Bear Creek Arsenal of North Carolina and Florida's Diamondback Firearms are now officially 1911 makers.

Bear Creek dropped a short sizzle reel to showcase its stainless-steel 1911 Government profile Series 70 .45 ACP handguns.

The company says it has options for threaded and non-threaded barrels as well as different grips. The move by Bear Creek makes sense, as it has been making 1911 barrels and components for years.

The Bear Creek Arsenal 1911s are stainless-steel guns with 5-inch black nitride barrels, an extended beavertail, G10 or Pachmayr black grips, forward slide serrations, and ship with a pair of eight-round Chip McCormick Power Mags.

Diamondback DB1911

One of the largest AR makers in the country, Diamondback has been diversifying over the past few years to include getting into a knife brand, launching a double-action .22 revolver that looks like it is a single action, delivering one of the cooler 5.7mm platforms available, and teasing 1911s.

Well, it is no longer a tease as the company is actively marketing its new DB1911SS, a limited-edition stainless-steel Government profile .45 ACP with a customized slide complete with lightening cuts for a faster lock up. Using 70 Series internals, a 3-to-4-pound skeletonized aluminum trigger, a match-grade barrel, and Novak adjustable sights, it ships in a Pelican case with three Chip McCormick mags.

The price on the new Bear Creek 1911s is $1,295, while Diamondback doubled down on its version, asking $3,060.

The news comes on the heels of Palmetto State Armory likewise debuting a series of "Two World Wars" winners.
