Bringing a modern PDP-series top half to the classic PK380 frame, Walther has delivered the new PD380 to market.
Boasting what Walther describes as an "effortless-to-rack slide," the company that probably has more experience with blowback-action .380s than any other has a new pistol available this week. The PD380 features a double action/single action (DA/SA) trigger system with a hammer-fired action, a classic Walther-type ambidextrous paddle magazine release on the trigger guard, a single-stack nine-shot magazine, and an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety decocker mechanism.
The frame of the new PD380, above, takes cues from the old PK380, which was in production from 2009-2021, while the top half is clearly inspired by the new PDP series of guns and has much better ergonomics. (Photos: Walther)
With a 3.7-inch barrel and an overall length of 6.48 inches, the new 20.6-ounce 10-shot PD380 compares very well to the company's iconic 80-year-old PPK. With almost the same specs, the PPK offers only a 6+1 capacity, lending to ease of concealed carry with minimal printing.

The MSRP of the new PD380 is $449, which is about half of the ask ($849) for a new PPK – shaken (not stirred) martini not included.
