SIG this week lifted the curtain on a souped-up variant of its popular P322 series rimfire semi-auto pistol geared toward those looking for more performance.

The new SIG Sauer P322 Comp builds on the standard 17+1 round basic model by shipping with both 25+1 and 20+1-round extended mags. It also has a threaded barrel complete with a factory-installed two-port compensator and a SIG RomeoZero Elite red dot optic. While the standard P322 is all-black or all-FDE with some assorted frame options, the P322 Comp is a two-tone model with a black grip frame and stainless slide.

Other features include an extended magazine catch, adjustable trigger shoe, sport takedown lever, M1913 rail, and integrated magwell. In addition to the installed RomeoZero MRD on a Shield RMS-c footprint, the pistol ships with fiber-optic front sights. (All photos: SIG)

The overall length with a 4-inch barrel is 8 inches, while the weight is 19.8 ounces.

SIG describes the new P322 Comp as being a competition-ready .22 LR rimfire pistol with class-leading capacity.

"When we brought the P322 to the market it was hailed for its ingenuity, quality, and value. Now the P322-COMP raises the bar on the entire .22 plinking experience,” said Tom Taylor, SIG's Chief Marketing Officer and EVP for Commercial Sales. "The P322 Comp ships with a factory-installed RomeoZero Elite red dot optic for fast target acquisition and is designed with a slide-mounted racker and sport takedown lever as value-added fun features, and a barrel-mounted compensator to reduce muzzle rise making the P322 Comp a fast, fun, and flat pistol to plink with."

With some feedback on how it performs, 22 Plinkster and The Humble Marksman have extended their first looks at the new pistol.
