One of the most "if you know, you know" wheel guns in history now has a half-century in the rearview, and Beretta has a special run saluting these iconic revolvers.

Limited to just 50 guns shipped to the U.S., the 50th Anniversary Manurhin MR73 in .357 Magnum is headed to market in 2024. Engraved "MR73 Heritage 357 Magnum" in gold on the left side of the barrel in addition to a special serial number and gold highlights on the frame, the revolver sports a 5.25-inch barrel with fiber-optic front sights and oil-finished wood grips. It is based on the M73 Sport revolver, which is specifically designed for high-level competition.

The oil-finished wood grips include a gold Manurhin medallion. They are a departure from the standard Trausch-branded rubber finger groove grips with which the guns typically ship.

The 50th Anniversary Manurhin MR73 is being imported by Beretta and is limited to just 50 units.

Introduced in the early 1970s – hence the MR73 designation – the full-sized wheel gun is about the same size as a Colt Python or S&W K-frame and has a reputation for being beautifully made, with a brilliant polished blue finish, and extremely rugged. Speaking to the latter, the guns were favored for use by French police, which meant frequent practice with full-house Magnum loads. All jokes about recent French martial ability aside, their counter-terror teams have done lots of heavy lifting in recent years.

Beretta acquired Chapuis Armes, owner of Manurhin, in 2019.

The Manurhin MR73 50th Anniversary model ships in a premium branded lockable case with a certificate of authenticity, CIP proof sheet, manual, and tools, as well as a spare 9mm cylinder with four moon clips included.

The bad news? The ask on the 50th Anniversary model "starts" at $10,999. Sure, standard M73s have an MSRP of $3,299, but still...
