New: 5-Pound Savage 110 Ultralite Elite Hunting Rifle
Combining an MDT carbon fiber chassis system with a PROOF Research barrel, Savage Arms has a new super lightweight rifle available for 2024 in a half-dozen popular hunting calibers.
The new Savage 110 Ultralite Elite hits the scales at about 5 pounds right out of the box while still coming in 6.5 CM, .308 Win, 6.5 PRC, 7mm PRC, .300 Win Mag, and .300 WSM offerings. This is due to the combination of a PROOF carbon fiber-wrapped stainless-steel barrel with an MDT HNT26 chassis that includes a carbon-fiber forend with integrated ARCA rail, carbon-fiber pistol grip, and buttstock.

The stock is adjustable for both length of pull and height and drops the overall length by 9 inches when folded, allowing easy transport in the backcountry.
So, what's the big deal with the HNT26 hunting chassis, anyway? North American Super Slammer Jon Pynch covers why he digs it in the below video from MDT.
Other features
Other features include a threaded bolt handle (5/16x24) with a carbon-fiber bolt knob that saves a couple more ounces, a low-profile AICS detachable box magazine, Omniport muzzle brake on a threaded muzzle, three-position tang safety, 20 MOA Picatinny scope rail, and a 1.5 to 4-pound user-adjustable AccuTrigger.
The stainless-steel receiver has a Blackout Cerakote finish, while the Magnesium center section sports a Gunmetal gray Cerakote finish.

Guns & Gear’s Kevin “KJ” Jarnagin is joined by Savage Arms’ Beth Shimanski to walk through all the features of the new rifle in the below video. They added a decent set of optics and a bipod, and the gun still came in at under 8 pounds.
