Florida's Diamondback Firearms continues to diversify its catalog by announcing a new compact six-shot wheel gun for 2024.

Chambered in .357 Magnum, the new handgun is dubbed the Self Defense Revolver, or SDR, by its maker and has been made for carry. Using a 2-inch barrel with a 45-degree target-crowned muzzle, the SBR is crafted from forged stainless steel. A double-action/single-action revolver with an exposed spur hammer, it has low-profile fiber-optic sights and a streamlined push-button cylinder release.

Overall length of the Diamondback SDR is 6.53 inches, while its height is 4.44 inches. Weight is 21.2 ounces. Note the short underbarrel lug. (Photos: DB)

The overall styling and push-button cylinder release evoke the Kimber K6 series and help keep the width down to 1.38 inches over the cylinder itself.

An interesting facet of the SDR is the fact that the cylinder and crane link assembly can be easily removed in one contained package, via a push-button release on the right side of the frame.

It ships with Diamondback-branded rubber grips that seem to be Hogue overmolded Monogrips, one of the most popular styles over the past couple of decades, especially when it comes to recoil mitigation.

"The SDR (Self Defense Revolver) is your ultimate ally in self-defense, combining reliability, concealability, and confidence into one powerful and compact package," says Diamondback on its new handgun, its first centerfire revolver. "Boasting an exceptionally smooth trigger pull, low-profile front and rear fiber-optic sights, and a six-shot capacity, the SDR makes the perfect companion in any situation."

MSRP of the new Diamondback SDR is a very lucky $777, which compares nicely to other six-shot all-stainless .357 snubs such as the Kimber K6S DASA (with an ask of $1,195), the $919 Ruger SP101, or the Colt King Cobra Carry's $999 catalog price.

We'll bring you more on this interesting new design from SHOT Show and we may have to get ahold of one for a review. Just saying.
