KelTec’s 9mm pistol caliber carbine, the SUB2000, is one of its most popular offerings since the 1990s. For 2024, KelTec is releasing the Gen 3 version addressing the most common contemporary complaint: that older variants could not fold completely with a scope or optic attached to the top rail.

The Gen 3 SUB2000 solves this problem by having the forend rotate when it folds, so the side of the forend mates with the top of the receiver. The forend then locks in place with a tab that fits in a M-LOK slot.

...but the big news is the new rotating forend mechanism that allows the gun to fold completely even with an optic attached.

Other improvements include a slimmed-down butt plate, an aluminum trigger, a lightened operating system, and a larger charging handle. As always, it takes Glock magazines

Note the slimmed-down butt plate and the enlarged charging handle. KelTec says the operating system is also lighter, meaning it's easy to rack and cycle for shooters of all abilities.

The lightened operating system makes cycling the action much easier than on previous generations. The trigger pull was also lightened. Finally, the charging handle can be locked to either side now, as opposed to only one side in the past.

This is a great upgrade to bring the SUB2000 into 2024.
