Beretta pulled a curious one-of-a-kind rabbit out of its Model 92 platform at SHOT Show that combines a lot of interesting mechanics to deliver an interesting new design to consumers. 
 
First, a little background. 
 
The most encountered Model 92/96 is a double-action/single-action design with a frame-mounted "F/FS" style safety decocker lever. A more pro-style option is the "G" style, which is a decock-only lever. Recently, Beretta introduced a single-action-only variant of the Model 92, the XI series (or, 9211) which doesn't need a decocker but does need a frame-mounted manual safety lever to allow for "cocked and locked" carry. 
 
Now, considering all the above, what if Beretta took the SAO 92XI platform but combined a push-up Type G style ambidextrous frame-mounted decocker lever with an internal twin sear (the "TS" in GTS) design that allows the user to decock the hammer to a half-cocked position safely each time? Yes, adding a de facto double-action back to a single-action pistol (that was originally designed to be DA/SA).

This gives you the new 92 GTS. 
 

 
But why, though? 
 
Combined with the company's X-treme S trigger group seen in the 92XI Performance and DLC coated components, the GTS gives the user a best-of-both-worlds kind of experience when it comes to a smoother action. Paired with the slim Vertec series grip and enhanced ergonomics, along with a feature set that includes an optics plate an M1913 accessory rail, and it is a Beretta 92 that feels very 2024. Further, it makes for a more carry-friendly installment in the 92XI series, something you can't say about other models in that family, such as the Squalo.
