Palmetto State Armory's "SCAR Heavy we have at home" is one of the most interesting concept guns to hit the news this year and the company says it is "alive and kickin."
PSA this week released a short video showing prototype models of the .308 JAKL in extended testing just chewing up the real estate while on the range. Company reps say in the clip that one test gun shown at work has thus far logged over 5,500 rounds, which is decent.
The .308 JAKL was a crowd favorite in a vote held by PSA to bring to market several concept guns proposed at SHOT Show earlier this year. It came in just behind the planned X5.7 PDW, a 5.7 NATO caliber pistol that is visually similar to the iconic yet unobtainable H&K MP7.
As previously reported by Guns.com from SHOT, whereas the current 5.56 JAKL runs on a standard AR-15 lower, the .308 version will use a PA-10 lower with an adapter plate in the back, and the plan is to use standard AR-10-pattern magazines.

"One of the most impressive things about this design is the handguard, which I believe is one of the slimmest .308 piston system handguards on the market," noted our own Alexander Reville of the design earlier this year. "The rifle also features a non-reciprocating charging handle that can be swapped from left to right, as well as an eight-position adjustable gas block in the front."
While the entry fee to get into the gas-piston .308 rifle game is upward of $2,500, any lower ask on a production JAKL in the same caliber, as long as it runs, would find a ready market.
