On this week’s episode of Two Guys One Gun, the boys discuss the pocket pistol, affectionately known as the mouse gun. While it seems like handguns are getting smaller and smaller, the idea of an ultra-concealable handgun is nothing new.
The idea of the pocket pistol is deeply rooted in the concept of concealed carry. Way back in the day, the derringer became one of the first pocket-sized handguns to be used for deep concealment and personal defense. Easily concealed in the pocket of a man’s pants or in a woman’s handbag, this small handgun would inspire many models to come.
With the introduction of the semi-automatic pistol in the late 19th century, the pocket-sized handgun surged in popularity. Early designs like the Baby Browning, the Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless, the FN 1905, and the Walther Model 8 set the tone for concealed carry firearms at the turn of the century. These small handguns would push the envelope for iconic models to come. Even today we see a massive resurgence into deep concealed handguns.
