Springfield Armory on Tuesday debuted two new variants of the ordinary all-black Echelon 9mm pistol that now make it available to fans of Desert FDE or OD Green.

Springfield released the Echelon last July, which feels like an upsized version of the extremely popular and hard-serving Hellcat Pro but with a novel Variable Interface System that uses self-locking pins to allow the user to configure the necessary optic footprint, without needing to use any plates. Essentially the VIS allows a direct mount for something like 30 different optics.

The newest Cerakoted Echelon models have all the standard features as the more noir model including the VIS system, a modular serialized chassis, U-Dot tritium/luminescent day/night sights, a hammer-forged Melonite-finished 4.5-inch barrel, and captive recoil system.

Each pistol ships with a soft-sided double-zipper case and two magazines: a flush-fit 17-round and an extended 20-round.

All models-- except in restricted states (contact your lawmakers)-- ship with a flush-fit 17-round and an extended 20-round magazine.

The MSRP on the new Echelon models is set at $719, which is $40 more than the $679 ask for the black model, which notably does not have the night sights.
