Well-liked Turkish handgun maker Canik has updated its optics-ready micro compact MC9 Mete line of pistols to add capacity and features.
The new guns, the Mete MC9L and MC9 LS, are essentially the same pistol, with one (the LS) having a slightly longer (0.46-inch) slide. Both use new 17-round magazines but are reverse compatible with legacy Canik mags. The "L" comes into play because the new models are a skosh longer than the company's other Mete series pistols, with an overall length of 6.27 and 6.75 inches, respectively. The standard Mete MC9 has an overall length of 6.1 inches.
Canik bills the improvements, in addition to capacity, as giving the pistols an extended grip and surface area. Both models will be offered in black, flat dark earth, and two-tone black/FDE.
The Mete MC9L has a 3.18-inch barrel and hits the scales at 22.22 ounces.
The Mete MC9 LS has a 3.64-inch barrel and weighs 23.73 ounces.
They also ship in a hard case with a metric ton of accessories including an inside-the-waistband holster, three backstraps, a tool kit and punch, a speed loader, a pinky rest, and a cleaning kit.
MSRP is set at $499, which is fairly decent on a micro 9.
