The design

The Radical Firearms RF-15 Forged MHR is a 5.56-chambered AR-15 with a 16-inch barrel. This rifle is built on a forged lower and uses Radical’s 15-inch MHR handguard, which features both M-LOK and Picatinny rail sections. The handguard also has QD sling mounts toward the muzzle end. 
 

This AR-15 uses a mid-length gas system, which is always refreshing to see. A lot of 16-inch barrel uppers use a shorter carbine-length gas system that is harsher on the components. The mid-length gas system is not only easier on the components, but it also offers a softer shooting experience. The barrel wears an A2 birdcage-style flash hider.
 

The lower receiver features standard AR-15 controls and is not ambidextrous. The rifle feeds from standard STANAG-pattern magazines and includes one 30-round steel magazine. The pistol grip is made by B5 Systems and offers a straighter angle than most other grips on the market, making it much more ergonomic. B5 was also the choice for the six-position stock with its SOPMOD-Esq Bravo model. 

The trigger is a standard AR-15 trigger with little to no takeup, a break around 6.5 pounds, and a short, audible reset.
