One of the most overlooked ways to get a deal in the firearms industry is buying blemished firearms. Right now we have a batch of blemished ATI Omni Hybrid Maxx pistols offered at a deep discount. These AR-15 handguns are already a great deal, but minor imperfections in the finish kept them from passing ATI’s quality control, dropping the price even further.

The Design

This ATI AR pistol is unique. The Omni Maxx line makes heavy use of polymer, with ATI's patented, metal-reinforced polymer upper and lower. This keeps the overall weight of the design down, while also keeping the structural integrity strong. The lower receiver has a flared magwell and feeds from standard AR-pattern magazines. The gun includes one 30-round Amend 2 polymer magazine.

Front and rear sights flip up and are adjustable.

|This Omni Hybrid Maxx pistol is chambered for 5.56 and has a 7.5-inch barrel. The barrel features an A2-style birdcage flash hider and rides underneath a metal handguard that includes M-LOK slots for mounting accessories. The top of the receiver and handguard are constructed of 1913 rail, perfect for mounting optics and lights. A set of flip-up iron sights is included, too.

Note the tiny chip in the finish midway down the handguard. Each gun will have its own blemish, but it certainly doesn't take away from the function of the firearm.
ATI Omni Hybrid Maxx brace
A blade-style stabilizing brace is included.

Even the minor features of the handgun are made of polymer, including the safety selector and trigger. The buffer tube includes a receiver end cap under the castle nut that has sling attachments on the left and right side. The buffer tube also includes an adjustable blade-style stabilizing brace that uses Allen screws for the adjustments.

Summary

While there may be minor blemishes in the finish, there is nothing functionally wrong with a blemished firearm. The ATI Omni Maxx is already an inexpensive AR pistol, but with the blemish discount, you can get it for a steal.

Firearms are tools. They get used and often have blemish and imperfections, just like the tools on your workbench. A small scratch shouldn’t keep you from getting a great deal. Besides, it’s America, and you can’t have too many AR-15s.
