Shield Sights Highlights New Red Dots & Open Top Concept
UK-based Shield Sights had a slew of nifty optics on display at SHOT Show 2025. From the new AMSx, AMS, and AMSc enclosed emitter red dot sights to the RMSsc sub-compact red dot and the innovative Open Top pistol sight concept, Shield offers an optic for all your needs.
The AMSx
The AMSx is Shield's largest sight so far. It's an enclosed rifle red dot with a new patented mounting system that allows it to use Shield's popular RMSc footprint, allowing it to mount to handguns, too. To save space, the Shield Sights AMSx uses a top-side battery tray.

AMS and AMSc
Using the same standardized Shield Sights mounting footprint, the AMS and AMSc red dots will co-witness standard-height iron sights. They’re waterproof for up to 30 minutes in 30 feet of water, and the crystal-clear glass lenses are protected by an all-aluminum housing. The company combined features from its military-proven SIS enclosed carbine sight and popular RMSw pistol optic to create a compact, fully sealed pistol sight that’s rugged but will barely add an ounce to your handgun.

With three-stage auto brightness adjustments and 12-stage manual brightness adjustments, including three night vision settings, you can tune the AMS for any shooting conditions. The AMS is offered in 4-MOA, 8-MOA, and a multi-reticle option (2-MOA, 2-MOA + 65-MOA Ring, 8-MOA, 8-MOA + 65-MOA Ring, 8-MOA Horseshoe, and 8-MOA Horseshoe + 65-MOA Ring). With the AMSc, buyers can choose a 4-MOA or 8-MOA dot.
MSRP on both sights comes in just under $600, with the AMSc running about $30 less than the full-size AMS. The full lineup is now shipping.
The RMSsc
Shield Sights bills its new RMSsc sub-compact red dot as the smallest red dot sight you’ve ever seen. Designed for micro-compact or slim-frame pistols, the RMSsc is built around the smaller CR1632 battery but still gets 1.5 years of battery life, making it an ideal addition to your concealed carry setup.

It has a newly designed aluminum housing, all-new glass lens, and an IP67 Waterproof Rating, is night vision compatible, and comes in two options: 4 MOA or 8 MOA. The aerospace-grade aluminum housing is rugged and corrosion-resistant.
Like the rest of Shield’s RMS line, the RMSsc uses Shield’s standard footprint and co-witnesses with standard-height iron sights. Shield advertises the optic as “always ready with no need to shake awake or turn on – simply draw, aim, and shoot.” Its auto-brightness feature adjusts the brightness instantly for changing light conditions in any environment.
Open Top Concept
Shield also showed an open-top OMS pistol optic concept. This design gets rid of the limits of an enclosed optic, helping to increase situational awareness by opening up the sight picture. The optic features a transparent polymer top that gives the feel of being more open.

"It allows more light into the lens, makes the dot a lot brighter, and just generally looks kind of cool," explained Shield rep and pro shooter James White.
