Best known for its popular and ever-expanding shotgun lines, TriStar has been working hard to grow its new handgun offerings.
The company, which has been importing firearms to the States since the late 1990s, has been marketing a series of 1911s recently but at SHOT Show this week we found the APOC – a Gen 3 G19 clone (for an amazing price) – and the Protege X subcompact, a single-stack Micro 9/mini-1911 style pistol.
The APOC
The APOC line is a salute to the world's most beloved polymer-framed striker-fired compact pistol chambered in 9mm. TriStar tells us most Gen 3 G19 components will interchange, allowing for easy updates and maintenance, while the pistol boasts better ergonomics. Dimensional similarity also means there are hundreds of holster fits already in circulation.

Note the front and rear steel fiber-optic sights as well as matching front and rear slide serrations.
Note the textured memory pad forward of the trigger. The APOC ships with two 15-round Glock G19-pattern magazines and two interchangeable grip backstraps.
The APOC will be available in three colors beyond the standard black-on-black: Sniper Gray, Olive Drab/black two-tone, and FDE.

Protege X
The Protege X subcompact chambered in 9mm is a single-action, all-metal, hammer-fired pistol with a single stack 7+1 round magazine and polymer grip panels.
These will be available in several colorways.
Running a 3.2-inch barrel, the pistol ships with two (Kimber Micro 9 pattern) magazines, one with a pinky rest. Weight is 16.96 ounces.
Besides black, the TriStar Protege X will be available in silver.

And Tungsten.
The MSRP on the TriStar Protege X is $549 across all colors.
