Laugo Arms makes my favorite competition pistol, the Alien Creator. Now, the company has introduced a carry version of that gun called the Alien Remus, and it is everything I hoped it would be and more.

I got some hands-on experience at SHOT Show 2025. Here’s what the Remus has to offer.

The Remus still has all the best features of the Creator. That includes the lowest bore axis of any pistol, which is only made possible by the top-mounted gas-delayed blowback action. It also keeps the Creator grip that has multiple sizes and shapes for the front strap, back strap, and both grip panels.

For more information about these features, check out my original Alien Creator review:

There are several new features, though. First, the barrel was shortened from 5 inches to 4 inches for better concealability. The overall weight is 29 ounces, which is a little less than a SIG Sauer P229

Next, Laugo Arms added a very ingenious slide safety. It’s intuitive to deactivate, and it uses the same motion as a 1911. However, it takes a deliberate action to switch it on. That means you can choose to use it or not. It’s easy to switch off, and it won’t just come on if you don’t want to use it.

Finally, Laugo addressed a complaint that previous versions of the Creator pistol didn’t allow users to use the optic to rack the slide. To fix that, the company added a push-to-rack button on top of the slide, so the Remus is easy to rack when an optic is installed.

Initially, the Remus will be available in a 500-unit Limited First Edition Full Kit with all the bells and whistles. As part of the accessories, Laugo added a G-Code universal holster that can be worn inside or outside the waistband on either the right or left side. After this initial drop, if Laugo Arms follows its usual pattern, it will offer the Remus at a lower price without all the accessories.

This is a premium pistol that performs like nothing else on the market. When shooting it at Industry Day at the Range, I was impressed to find the muzzle rise and recoil impulse were very similar to the original larger Creator.

There was probably just a little more energy to control, but I believe this is the easiest 9mm carry pistol to shoot on the market. The trigger is superb, and there is virtually no flip. You can stack bullets on top of each other.

This is totally a top-of-the-food-chain dream gun. If you want the best of the best, here it is.
