PTR Industries is an American brand that is strongly associated with HK-style roller-delayed firearm designs. However, at SHOT Show 2025, the company not only expanded its firearms offerings but also focused on its new suppressor line.

PTR Vent-Series Suppressors

Considering how incredibly successful 2024 was for suppressors, PTR was not going to get left behind. Last year, the American-built PTR proudly announced its line of suppressors made from 3D-printed titanium, namely Vent 1 (.308 Win), Vent 2 (9mm), and Vent 3 (5.56mm).

This year, the company introduced its new Vent Spiritus 556i, a dedicated 5.56mm suppressor that is made from the superalloy Inconel with an industry-standard hub mount. The Inconel construction allows the can to survive more abuse, such as full-auto fire. The suppressor is also shorter than the previous Vent cans and comes in at just 6 inches in length, which you can compare to the previous 7.7-inch Vent 2.

The most incredible and noteworthy aspect of the Vent series suppressors was their Purposely Induced Porosity technology. This describes the metal lattice design that is incorporated into the end cap.

Made possible by 3D-printing technology, the suppressor has a porous metal design at the muzzle, which allows the excess gas that builds up to escape from the end. This prevents gas from being pushed into the shooter’s face and allows for a more comfortable shooting experience.

Another new rifle released from the company this year is the PTR 63. This 5.56 rifle is similar to the HK33, with some minor modernizing changes. The PTR 63 is the company’s attempt to address some of the antiquated design features of the standard HK platform.

One major complaint about HK’s past designs focuses on their difficult manual of arms. So, PTR decided to incorporate a lower magazine well that accepts standard AR-pattern magazines and uses a bolt-hold/release button.

One of PTR’s flagship products is the PTR 9C, a semi-auto pistol version of the famous HK MP5. This year, PTR released the PTR 9L with a longer, more rifle-like barrel length. This design forgoes the goofy but standard extra-long barrel design like the one on the HK94. Instead, it features a 12.5-inch barrel with a handguard that extends to the end of the barrel.

This gives the shooter a longer sight radius and more rail space. Additionally, the 12.5-inch barrel has an extension pinned and welded to the muzzle, making the overall barrel length 16 inches, keeping it off the NFA’s radar.

The PTR 9L features all the standard controls that you would expect from an MP5 clone, just allowing for a longer barrel for those looking for a rifle.
