Tennessee-based S&W has expanded its line of CSX micro-compact hammer-fired 9mm handguns with the updated E-Series.
Introduced in early 2022, the standard 10/12-shot CSX features an aluminum alloy frame and a 3.125-inch barrel that gives it a 6.1-inch overall length along with a single-action-only exposed hammer. At an inch wide over ambi controls, it weighs 20 ounces empty.
We reviewed it and found it to have a ton of potential in a small package.
Upping the game for 2025, Smith this week announced the new and improved CSX E-Series, which includes a choice between the standard 3.1-inch or a longer 3.6-inch barrel, and, with a longer grip, ships with 12, 15, and 17-round magazines (or 10-round compliantvariants for those "behind the lines.") All models boast an enhanced trigger pack that the company bills as being more crisp.
Other features include a slide cut with an optics-ready RMS-C/507K footprint and what Smith calls a "ClearSight" cut, designed to divert gasses away from the optic lens. Another improvement on the CSX E-Series is a new modular grip adapter that allows the user to scale the grip up and down via interchangeable front straps.
The new S&W CSX E-Series will be available in 3.1 and 3.6-inch barrel lengths, giving pistols that run 6.1 and 6.6 inches long, respectively. Note the difference between the 12 and 15-round magazines. (Photos: S&W)
They will ship with 12, 15, and 17-shot magazines, or 10s for states that are restricted. They have a factory 507 footprint cut and white dot sights.
MSRP on the new S&W CSX E-Series is $699 regardless of barrel length. Compare this to the more standard CSX – which does not have an optics cut, only ships with 10 and 12-shot magazines, and retails for $619.
