Shield Sights Is Now Shipping New Open-Top Sub-Compact Red Dot
UK-based Shield Sights released its new open-top red dot sight this week. After checking out the OMSsc at SHOT Show last month, we are excited to see this innovative concept hit dealer shelves.
The OMSsc has a transparent top for “an unparalleled field of view and more accurate measure of ambient light conditions.” Like the company’s other sub-compact sight, the RMSsc, the new open-top sight uses a smaller CR1632 battery to allow the sight to fit the smallest pistols on the market.
The idea of the transparent top is to provide the shooter an unobstructed field of view. (Photos: Shield Sights)
Constructed of aerospace-grade aluminum and anodized for corrosion resistance, the OMSsc uses Shield’s new clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating. The optic also uses Shield’s standard footprint and will co-witness with standard-height iron sights. It’s always ready (no need to shake awake) and has an auto-brightness adjustment that combines with the open top for a bright, unobstructed view.
The OMSsc is available in 4 or 8-MOA options, is night vision compatible, waterproof for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter, and has 1.5 years of life per battery. MSRP is set at $379.99.
