Dead Air and Ruger Intro New RXD Line of Ultralight Hunting Cans
Dead Air showed off two suppressors from its new collaboration with Ruger at the NRA Annual Meeting in Atlanta over the weekend. Dead Air rep Nick Moore was on hand to tell us about the RXD line and emphasized that these aren’t merely Dead Air suppressors with the Ruger name slapped on the side. The RXD cans are designed from the ground up just for Ruger.
“Everything from their mounting systems to the suppressor builds themselves – there’s tons of new features,” Moore said.
RXD30TI

Built for the growing crowd of backcountry hunters who prefer lightweight rifles for long-distance treks, the .30-caliber RXD30Ti is made from ultralight 6AL4V titanium, measures 7.34 inches long, and weighs just 12.4 ounces. Rated for calibers from 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Win up to .300 PRC, the RXD30 also features a direct-thread brake mounting system.
“No longer do you have to run a mounting system for the interface. Your hub threads are actually your interface for the brake,” Moore explained.
The RXD30Ti features lots of unique features that make it excellent at reducing felt recoil and suppressing the sound signature of calibers up to .300 PRC.
The RXD30Ti uses two Dead Air baffle designs, Triskelion and Nomad, along with integrated porting. There’s also a front flash cap that “absolutely rips.” All this combines for a super-light can that is touted to dramatically reduce felt recoil, with up to a 40-percent reduction in felt recoil with 7mm PRC, for instance.
MSRP on the RXD30Ti is $1,099, and it comes in either a Black or Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish.
RXD22Ti
Dead Air describes the RXD22Ti as “a new standard in rimfire performance.” This .22-caliber can is rated for .22 LR, .22 Mag, .17 HMR, .17 WSM, and 5.7x28mm, and full-auto rated for .22 LR and .17 HMR.
The RXD22Ti would go great on the end of a 10/22, and it can even handle full-auto .22 LR.
At 5.6 inches long, it weighs just 5.6 ounces. This suppressor features a titanium sleeve over a 3D-printed, PVD-coated Triskelion core, a titanium retaining cap, and an all-new RXF muzzle brake (basically a micro-Xeno, if you’re familiar with that Dead Air mount) designed to enhance performance and capture lead.
The RXD22 has the same two finish options as its bigger sibling, Black or Burnt Bronze Cerakote, with MSRP at $499.
Ruger suggests throwing an RXD22 on its 10/22 rifles, Ruger American rimfires, Mark-series pistols, or the SR22 pistol.
We can’t wait to give it a try once we get the RXDs in hand.
