Tippmann Ordnance Shows Off Eye-Popping Gatling Guns, New .380 'Pirate' Pistol
Tippmann Ordnance had its steampunk-cool 9mm Gatling guns that feed on Glock magazines and a sneak peek at its new pump-action “pirate pistol” on full display at the 2025 NRA Annual Meeting in Atlanta.
Sweet Gatling Guns
Originally introduced in 2018, Tippmann’s 9mm Gatling gun has been a hit for the company since its release. That prompted the company to expand its line of old-school miniguns to include options with 10- or 16-inch barrels, along with the addition of a ritzy “Golden” option, plus multiple mounting systems.
Those mounting systems now include a modernized carriage with rubber pneumatic tires as well as retro wooden carriages and tripods. No, the option riding on pneumatic tires is not highway-rated, but it’s still a blazing good time to shoot. The mounts are variant-dependent, but any option is more than welcome here at Guns.com HQ. There’s even an extra mini .22 LR model sporting 8.5-inch barrels that can be had with a reusable and extendable 50-round ammo belt. (Photo: Samantha Mursan/Guns.com)
The .22-cal Gatling gun rides on a metal tripod, complete with an adjustable rear traverse-and-elevation mechanism. It was also designed to run on a wide swath of common .22 LR ammo, so it’s not a picky eater.
“There are world records being broken with this gun,” noted Brad Timmann, with a big grin. “When guys have the right licensing, they can put motors on it, and they got 5,400 rounds a minute. That’s how good the delivery system is on the .22.”
The crank mega-pepperboxes are anything but light, with weights ranging from a hefty 15 pounds for the smallest .22 LR model to 75 pounds for the 9mm variant sporting 16-inch barrels. The hand-cranked design spreads out the shooting time between eight barrels, which allows for extended strings of shooting without overheating.
New Pump ‘Pirate’ Pistol
Beyond its crank cannons, Tippmann Ordnance announced a new swashbuckling “Pirate Pistol” for the post-modern scallywags. It was originally made by Dennis Tippmann Sr. back in 2004, but he never released it to the broader firearms world.

This treasure-worthy find is a tube-fed, pump-action pistol chambered for .380 ACP. A toggle in the action cocks the hammer as the pump cycles rounds, making it a repeat shooter that would have made plundering booty a lot easier for the buccaneers of yore.
