One of the most interesting new handguns has just received an upgrade, making it even more appealing for those who value a little quiet.
Ruger introduced its RXM series pistol last December, just before SHOT Show. A striker-fired 9mm that is compatible with most Gen 3 Glock 19 pattern parts but brings the modularity of a serialized Fire Control Insert to Magpul-produced grips, while being optics-ready with a Tritium front sight, it has a lot to offer for an MSRP of $499.
We tested it and tested it and found it to be not just another Glock clone but something truly innovative at an attractive price point.
Now, Ruger has gone the extra step and is offering the RXM in a threaded barrel format for $70 more than the base model. By comparison, Glock models with factory-threaded barrels, such as the G19X MOS TB, are often rare and hard to come by.
The new Ruger RXM threaded barrel model runs an extended 4.5-inch barrel with 1x28TPI threads under a knurled protector cap. Note the co-witness height sights on the optics-ready slide. (Photos: Ruger)
Overall length is 7.65 inches, while unloaded weight is 23.6 ounces. The pistol ships with a Stealth Gray Magpul Enhanced Handgun Grip installed, but that can be swapped out.
The gun ships with an additional, heavier 18-pound guide rod/recoil spring assembly that can be used to help tune the pistol to the user's chosen suppressor and ammunition. It also ships with two Magpul PMAG 15 GL9 15-round magazines.
MSRP on the new Ruger RXM threaded barrel model is $569.
