Tennessee-based Smith & Wesson this week debuted the new Performance Center Shield X Carry Comp 9mm micro-compact pistol, which promises to bring a softer recoil experience to users.

The new model's PowerPort feature, integrated into its 3.6-inch fluted barrel, is billed as able to "effectively harness high-pressure gases to mitigate muzzle rise during firing, thereby reducing felt recoil." Going beyond the compensator, the model includes all the standard features seen on the M&P Shield X platform, including aggressive front and rear serrations for enhanced racking ease, a reversible magazine catch, and a longer, ergonomically designed grip that maximizes capacity with 13+1, 15+1, or 10+1 options.

Further, the new PC Shield X Carry Comp ships with an installed Ameriglo Trooper LumiGreen front sight and a blacked-out serrated u-notch rear sight and utilizes an RMSc/ Holosun K optics-ready footprint. Users can choose from variants with and without a manual thumb safety as well as state-compliant low-capacity models.
