Wisconsin-based Vortex unwrapped an early Christmas gift for those looking to engage mid- and long-range targets with one versatile and powerful tactical rifle scope: the Razor HD Gen III 4-24x44 FFP, available with either MOA or MRAD reticles.

The new Razor HD Gen III is a first-focal-plane optic with a very generous 4-24x magnification. Despite this optical power, the 44mm objective lens still provides a flexible field of view ranging between 30.9 and 5.3 feet at 100 yards. Eye relief is 3.3 inches, and shooters can make parallax adjustments from 15 yards up.
 

Perhaps more striking, the length measurement of the optic is a compact and wieldy 12.5 inches. The 34mm scope tube is made from a solid block of aircraft-grade aluminum, which combines with the powerful glass to give this tactical scope a weight of 32.3 ounces. 

The Razor HD Gen III 4-24x44 FFP is ready-made for DMR-style rifles. The 4x magnification is ideal for glassing target areas and close work or movement shooting. Meanwhile, the potent 24x magnification gives this compact tactical optic a reach normally associated with long-range competition shooting.

Inside, the EBR-7D FFP illuminated reticle clears away clutter by moving the wind-hold numbers out. There are still plentiful subtensions for precision work.
 

Other features include the L-Tec+ Zero System, which uses captive parts and a single set screw to make zeroing easy. A locking elevation turret ensures you keep your zero on the way to your first shot. MSRP is set at $4,499.99, though you can expect some savings with actual street prices.
