Watchtower Returns with New 9mm Apache Commander Double-Stack 1911s
Veteran-founded Watchtower Defense is back in operation and taking orders for its new Apache Commander double-stack 9mm 1911s. We caught up with Watchtower at SHOT Show 2026 to check out the company's renewed offerings.
Formerly Watchtower Firearms, which declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early 2025, the company was recently purchased out of bankruptcy and relaunched as Watchtower Defense.
These precision-machined 1911s – more 2011s with the double-stack magazines – can be had in black or flat dark earth and come loaded with enhanced parts. These include a flared double-stack magwell, user-adjustable trigger duty-tuned to 4.5-5.5 pounds, and ambidextrous safety controls. That’s on top of the stainless-steel slide, frame, and barrel.
The guns are available in black or FDE. For the history nerds out there, the gun gets its name from the infamous Apache Snow operation during the Vietnam War of “Hamburger Hill” fame. (Image: Watchtower Defense)

Watchtower’s Apache Commanders come to 2.24 pounds unloaded, with a 4.1-inch barrel sporting a 1:16 twist. The guns ship with three 17-round magazines, a Watchtower pistol case, lock, and the company’s lifetime warranty card.
Starting MSRP on these premium 1911s/2011s is set at $3,999.
