European American Armory continues to build out its affordable and reliable Girsan Witness 2311 series with the new CMX, which deletes the grip safety in favor of something more modern. 

We've reviewed the company's optics-ready Girsan-made EAA Witness 2311 Match series 9mm pistols are feature-rich and proved reliable and accurate in testing, offering a low-cost solution to anyone looking to get into the double-stack 1911/2011 game and wanting a gun that will work as advertised. 

The new Witness 2311 CMX continues in that vein but ships with an installed auto firing pin block safety – making it drop safe – while removing the rear beavertail grip safety, cutting down on bulk across the back of the grip. The frame-mounted manual safety lever is still there, naturally, as it is a single-action platform. 

Other standard features of this Commander-length gun (4.5-inch bull barrel, rather than 5-inch as on full Government-length models) include a double-stack 17+1 2011-pattern magazine, a tuned trigger with an advertised maximum pull weight of 4.5 pounds, a full-length dust cover with a Picatinny accessory rail, and a direct-milled RMSc footprint optics cut between removable 3-dot sights.
 

The new Witness 2311 CMX has an MSRP of $1,229 and is covered by EAA's lifetime warranty.
