Hungarian Manufacturer Gestamen Surprises with Unique Multi-Action Handgun
The basement at SHOT Show was bumping this year, and a lot of the excitement came from Hungarian company Gestamen. In a world oversaturated with 9mm handguns, Gestamen takes with a unique approach with its G9HSP handgun.
Gestamen, which is Latin for “the arms we bear,” has manufactured a 9mm handgun that can be quickly changed from striker to hammer-fired. Gestamen’s head designer, Mihály Istvánovics, has designed a handgun with a removable action in the slide and frame of the handgun. The action can easily be removed without tools, needing nothing more than the takedown pin.

A lot of folks prefer striker-fired triggers, while others like the crisp single-action pull with the peace of mind of the double-action pull. Both actions run off the same safety, with a safety and de-cocker.
The striker-fired action also has a de-cocker, allowing for a “double-action”-style pull. This eliminates the downside of striker-fired actions on light primer strikes, allowing the user to reset the striker and try again without having to eject the round from the light primer strike.
The Gestamen has modern features like front slide serrations, aggressive grip texturing, a tac rail, and the ability to mount an optic.
This 9mm handgun feeds from Glock magazines and is comfortable in the hand, while the extremely innovative design has an almost FN 509-style feel.
The G9HSP was recently adopted by the Hungarian military, and Gestamen is working on importing these handguns to the U.S. before the end of the year. The company is seeking an importer and filing for ATF approval for import, so stay tuned for more on this intriguing handgun.
