Black Rain Ordnance caught my eye as I was walking the floor at SHOT Show 2026. Black Rain is known for its AR platforms, but this year the company is presenting an American-built AK. 
 

Freedom Fighter


The Black Rain Ordnance Freedom Fighter is a 7.62x39mm-chambered AK-pattern rifle. This design features a milled receiver, a free-float handguard, a CMC AK 2.0 Elite trigger, and a Rifle Dynamics front sight and gas block combo.

Black Rain Ordnance has made a foldable skeletonized stock for its new AK platform.
The safety has an extension that can be operated by the trigger finger...
with a more traditional switch style on the left side of the receiver.
The Rifle Dynamics front sight and gas block combo is housed inside a free-float M-LOK handguard...
...with a Glock-pattern rear sight.
 


The Freedom Fighter has a Glock rear sight and feeds from standard AK-pattern magazines. This rifle features a BRO-Chinook pattern .30-caliber suppressor-ready QD muzzle device. There’s also a B5 Systems pistol grip and a Black Rain skeletonized folding stock. 
 

Chinook

 

The Freedom Fighter comes with a BRO-Chinook .30-caliber QD muzzle device, perfect for the new Chinook .30-caliber, 3D-printed titanium suppressor from Black Rain.


Along with the Freedom Fighter, Black Rain has released a .30-caliber, 3D-printed titanium suppressor, the Chinook. This is a HUB-compatible suppressor and includes the Black Rain Ordnance BRO-pattern QD device. The can is ported for flow-through and features a high-temp Cerakote. It comes in a compact and an XL size.
