The Buck Mark brand’s ammunition division is targeting hunters and clay shooters with its new offerings for 2026. We visited Browning’s booth at SHOT Show and have a look at what’s new.
Golden Clays
A new year and a new family of shotshells headlines Browning’s ammunition space. Golden Clays Performance Target aims to fill a need for serious clay target shooters and competitors.
The rounds feature lead shot that is alloyed with antimony to reduce pellet deformation. The goal, of course, is consistent patterns and hard-hitting performance on targets. A competition-grade, four-petal, one-piece wad aims for the most consistent shot release.
Golden Clays is debuting with nine different offerings. All the 12-gauge selections are 2.75-inch, but shooters have a choice of either 1-ounce or 1.125-ounce, as well as shot sizes #7.5 or #8. In addition, there is a single offering for each of the following: 16 gauge, 20 gauge, 28 gauge, and 410 bore. We’re especially pleased to see the inclusion of sub-gauges here, especially the oft overlooked 16.
Buyers can further choose the proper load for their task with loads in Extra Light, Light, Heavy, Sporting, and Handicap with different shot types and muzzle velocity. All Golden Clays products sell in 25-round boxes.
28 Nosler Rifle Ammo
It’s fairly unusual these days to see a company like Browning – itself related to Winchester via its parent corporation – adding chamberings from might be considered a competitor. We’re pleased to see Browning adding one of Nosler’s hottest chamberings to its own factory ammunition and offering 28 Nosler in both its Max Point and Silver Series.
Since the 28 Nosler’s debut in 2015, it has been highly regarded among many hunters as one of the hottest and most powerful of the 7mm family of cartridges. It’s especially prized by longer-range hunters seeking potent rounds on shorter-action rifles.
In Browning’s family of ammunition, Max Point is tailored specifically to those hunting medium-sized big game, including whitetail, muleys, and pronghorn. The rounds use a polymer-tipped projectile for rapid energy transfer and consistent accuracy.
Silver Series, by contrast, is known for heavy-for-caliber bullets useful on bigger game. Both of these new 28 Nosler ammunition offerings join an extensive list of continuing calibers in both families of centerfire rifle ammunition.
Max Point: 140-grain/polymer tip/3,315 fps
Silver Series: 175-grain/plated soft point/3,734 fps
