One AR Lower to Rule Them All? Plate AR Shows Ultra-Modular Design
The AR-15 is always prominent at SHOT Show, and Plate AR was there innovating on an already incredibly modular platform.
Most of us are familiar with the modularity of the AR platform, but Plate AR is taking that to a whole new level. Due to its easy customization, the AR platform lends itself well to different calibers and styles, which all require custom lowers to run.
Using a series of plates and screws, the Plate AR lower can be optimized to run different magazines, uppers, and calibers, all under one serialized lower. (All photos: Seth Rodgers/Guns.com)
Not anymore.
The idea behind the Plate AR is that one AR lower can easily be configured to run any magazine set and upper that you want. A few changes of screws and pins and a quick rearrangement of the plates, and the same lower can accommodate a 5.56 upper, a 9mm upper, and a .308 upper.
This seems like one of those ideas that is so simple in thought that you can't believe it hasn't been done before.
This is the kind of innovation that helps platforms like the AR stick around for so long. Plate AR has a cool product, and with all the modularity that is coming to handguns and suppressors, it is good to see the AR get some of that love.
