Conservation leader and Grand Slam legend Rob Keck recently used the budget-friendly TriStar Viper G2 shotgun to achieve a historic Canadian Wild Turkey Super Slam. The feat required claiming a wild gobbler in every huntable territory within the Great White North.

It’s a first in the turkey-hunting world.

Keck is the former CEO of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and he used a custom TriStar Viper G2 decked out in TrueTimber’s Strata camo for the excursion. He was already the first hunter to achieve a U.S. Super Slam by bagging a wild turkey in all 49 huntable states.

"I wanted to use a TriStar because I have extreme confidence in its ability to perform reliably in the field with zero issues," said Keck. "My personal experience with TriStar has been superior. When you're traveling across provinces and hunting in demanding conditions, reliability is everything. TriStar delivers."

The TriStar Viper G2 is highly respected for its rugged reliability at an affordable price point. We’ve reviewed several variants of the Viper G2 over the years, and they have all performed admirably on the range and in the hunting fields time and again.

Canada’s firearm regulations required some limbo-level flexibility before the hunts even started. That included issues with certain Canadian territories barring the use of .410-gauge shotguns, a preferred chambering for Keck.

In response, Gus Bader, the CEO of TriStar Arms, personally addressed the challenge and custom-built a 20-gauge Viper G2 for Keck’s hunt.

"Rob Keck has done more for turkey hunting and conservation than almost anyone in our lifetime," said Bader. "It was an honor to personally build a Viper G2 for him to use in Canada. At TriStar, we take pride in delivering shotguns that hunters can trust completely in the field. For Rob to choose TriStar for such a historic accomplishment speaks volumes about the confidence serious hunters place in our firearms."

Keck said he chose a TriStar for this historic challenge because he has confidence in the brand. In fact, his grandchildren also hunt with TriStar scatterguns. What is more, the company offers great entry-level firearms to keep the art and culture of turkey hunting alive and accessible to the next generation.
