There’s an app for that – your handgun, that is. Lodestar Technology just dropped a high-tech 9mm handgun with biometric sensors, PIN access, and an app to manage it all. The system offers peace of mind for anyone concerned about keeping a firearm handy for when it's needed but ensuring it's stored safely and securely.
 

Dubbed the LNK9, this next-gen pistol is a “compact crossover” (full-size frame with a compact slide) that uses 17-round or 10-round mags depending on local restrictions. The LNK9 is fingerprint-activated by one of up to 50 authorized users, or it can be programmed to activate via a PIN code.

“The LNK9 represents a major leap forward in personal protection,” Lodestar cofounder and CTO Ginger Chandler stated. “By embedding advanced biometric safeguards directly into a proven platform, we’ve created a firearm that’s as secure as it is reliable … Safety of this kind has never been available before.”

While gun owners may have concerns about reliability, privacy, and outside influence on biometric-secured firearms technology, Lodestar assures customers that its design prioritizes “a clear focus on owner authority, independent operation, and privacy.”
 

The LNK9 is fully self-contained, meaning all biometric information and passwords are stored locally on the gun’s hardware and kept private. It’s not connected to the cloud and doesn’t have a GPS connection, so there’s no risk of being tracked or hacked. Only the owner controls user authorization, so no one can lock you out of your gun.

Convenient LED display lights indicate if the gun is ready to fire, the charging status, and authentication attempts. The fingerprint recognition system can be configured to be on either side of the grip, and the magazine release is reversible as well.
